Welcome to Regio Foodvalley

The Foodvalley is the leading agro-food centre in Europe; the top region for knowledge and innovation in healthy and sustainable food. This region is not only renowned for its food-related expertise and technology, but also for its outstanding infrastructure and facilities for living, working and recreation. Foodvalley Region is a framework of cooperation involving eight municipalities with altogether 350,000 residents, and many educational institutions and businesses.

Entrepreneurs, students and jobs

This is a top region for a top sector. Foodvalley combines science, business and research institutes with a focus on food. Wageningen University & Research (WUR) is the expertise heart of the region. It accommodates researchers and entrepreneurs from all over the world on its architecturally unique campus. Here you can also find the FrieslandCampina R&D centre and, as of 2019, the Unilever R&D Division. The World Food Center in Ede, which is planned for mid 2020, is another asset for the region.

Throughout Foodvalley, relevant knowledge is present at all levels. Foodvalley facilitates and stimulates collaboration between educational institutions and businesses in the region. Educational institutions in the region include a world-renowned university (WUR), several universities of applied science and schools of secondary vocational education, as well as Rivers International School.

Although food is the main priority of our region, it accommodates many other types of businesses and organisations. In particular, the service sector, ICT companies, the metal processing industry and the transport and logistics sector are strongly represented. Leading institutes include Marin, Meteo Consult and CROW.

Brussels

In order to closely monitor developments concerning the European agendas on food and regional policies, Foodvalley Region is represented in Brussels,. From its office in the House of the Dutch Provinces, Regio Foodvalley maintains strong relationships with various European institutions and other European food regions.

Accessibility

Regio Foodvalley is centrally located in the Netherlands, only one hour from Schiphol and one-and-a-half hours from Düsseldorf. Moreover, the region is easily accessible by rail (Intercity Ede-Wageningen) and by many motorways.

Living

The people living in this region, which includes the very scenic Gelderse Vallei, Utrechtse Heuvelrug and Veluwe areas, are relatively young. It is a region with a rich history, attractive nature reserves and landscapes and a comfortable living environment, combined with excellent facilities and unparalleled possibilities for recreation, ranging from the Utrechtse Heuvelrug to the National Park De Hoge Veluwe with its Kröller-Müller Museum. This museum has the world's second largest collection of Van Gogh paintings. What's more, the only giant pandas in the Netherlands can be admired at the Ouwehands Dierenpark in Rhenen.
